China asks to be “cautious” over presence of alleged spy balloon in US

“Until the facts are cleared up, speculation and commotion will not help to resolve this matter properly,” Foreign Affairs spokeswoman Mao Ning said at a press conference on Friday.

According to Mao, “Beijing is verifying reports that a spy balloon has flown over the United States,” though he stressed that “China has no intention of violating the territory or airspace of any sovereign state.”

“China hopes to handle this matter calmly and prudently with the United States,” he added.

Pentagon spokesman Pat Ryder, He claimed in a statement that the US is “closely following” the movements of the world.

“Once the balloon was discovered, the US government took immediate action to protect itself from the collection of sensitive information” by China, Ryder said, noting that it’s not the first time that authorities have discovered such a device in recent years.
