At The Castle show at Principality Stadium in Cardiff.
It was this release that sparked the return of the local show, much to the delight of Welsh wrestling fans who attended the event in Cathays in January not knowing what it was all about.
Speaking backstage on the show, professional wrestler Andrews, 31, said: “We’re bringing Attack Pro Wrestling back and we think it’s the perfect time to do this with everything that’s happened over the last few years and we’re all very excited about what is happening.” what happens next.
“We originally started out in 2011 playing small shows in places like Cardiff and Birmingham to small crowds as a place to express ourselves, but it quickly became a very loyal fan base and I would say it became a spiritual home. Welsh fight.
“If you look at the big names that have come out of British wrestling in recent years, like myself, Eddie Dennis, Pete Dunne, Wild Boar and Flash Morgan Webster, most of them have their roots in the early Attack shows. look forward to launching the next generation of talent from this region now as well.
“People might not realise, but Wales is the heartland of wrestling and there’s a really strong fan base here who love going to shows like this. In a way, it’s almost its own joke community. and niche stories integrated into the production, and as many people in the audience saw us grow up in the ring, we are happy to be back in front of them in the place where it all started over the years with us.
Andrews, who rose to fame as one of the first Welsh WWE Champions with teammate Flash Morgan Webster, went on to discuss the fallout of being fired from the WWE promotion just weeks before The Clash At event. the Castle, as well as how that led to the relaunch of Attack pro Wrestling this year.
He said: “It was difficult as we had expected to go to one of the biggest shows the UK has ever seen in Cardiff but instead a few days before the stadium event we found out that we had been sacked… all of us.
“It was a really tough time for me as it was the same month as my wedding and I had heard rumors that I might appear in Clash at the Castle, so moving from that to hearing that they were going to let us go was Duro Life Goes.On and even though many of us were fired from WWE, it gave us a chance to go back to where it all started with Attack.
“We want to announce that they are special shows for everyone, where a unique environment reigns and connection between athletes and spectators. Obviously, we want to keep the same environment as before, but we also want to try to make it even bigger this time around, and we’ve made a lot of improvements behind the scenes. We hope that as many people as possible can come see our next series of shows in April, which will be our biggest yet.”
Former teacher turned wrestler Eddie Dennis, 36, who was also one of the Welsh superstars to sign with WWE, said Wales now has such a vibrant professional wrestling scene and bringing the show now seemed like the perfect time.
He said, “So many big names have come out of this show over the years since it started in 2011, it’s great to have it back for home audiences to enjoy again. From the fighters to the fans, we’re all very passionate, and it’s only fitting that some of the big names are starting to pass on our expertise, as well as creating a platform for the next generation of talent in Wales to show what they can do.
“Historically, on Attack, you’ve seen the likes of Mark Andrews and Pete Dunne wrestle in these cozy lounges and watch future stars learn skills that will eventually take them to the highest level in the world. You’ll have to ask the fans exactly how they feel about the show returning, but for us in the ring it’s incredible and we’re extremely grateful for your support.”
Attack Pro Wrestling will return in April for one of their biggest events to date, with a series of shows at Cardiff’s Pryzm nightclub on April 1st and 2nd, 2023. More information on the events taking place in Wales can be found here.
