“Russian missiles over Romania and Moldova”

The two Russian missiles were to fly over the airspace of Moldova and Romania before entering Ukraine. The Commander-in-Chief of the Kyiv Armed Forces, General Valerii Zaluzhny, condemned the incident in a tweet: “Today, February 10, at 10:18 local time, two Kalibr cruise missiles launched from the Black Sea crossed the border of Ukraine with Moldova ” 10.33 These missiles crossed Romanian airspace. After that, the missiles re-entered Ukrainian airspace at the border between the three countries”. Moldova later confirmed that its airspace was breached by a Russian missile.

The Ukrainska Pravda newspaper, quoting the air force spokesman, would explain that although Ukraine was likely to shoot down the missiles, it did not do so because it did not want to endanger civilians in foreign countries.

During the last airstrike, at least 17 missiles hit the southeastern city of Zaporizhzhia. National grid operator Ukrenergo said drone and missile attacks on power plants and transmission facilities during the night and during rush hour Friday morning damaged power stations in eastern, southern and western Ukraine. There are no immediate reports of deaths, but OlehSynehubov, the governor of the Kharkiv region in northwest Ukraine, said seven people were injured. At least three explosions shook Kyiv and its environs, while the mayor of the Ukrainian capital urged residents to stay in shelters.

The new Russian attacks come after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy’s overseas trip demanding more weapons for Ukraine, including warplanes, from European Union leaders.

Russia has repeatedly attacked Ukrainian power plants in recent months, sometimes leaving millions without electricity, heating or water during the cold winter months.
