These are dramatic hours in Ukraine with the new and powerful wave of Russian attacks concentrated in particular in Zaporizhzhia, where the nuclear power plant is located: here at least 17 missiles fell in an hour. President Vladimir Putin will address parliament on Feb. 21, while Russia’s Defense Ministry on Friday released footage of naval exercises carried out by the crew of the frigate Admiral Gorshkov, armed with hypersonic anti-ship cruise rockets. Moscow claims the 3M22 Zircon missile can evade Western air defenses by flying at over 11,000 km/h.
The crew carried out an artillery bombardment against a marine target, as part of the joint naval exercise with the Republic of South African Navy and the Chinese Army Navy. Commissioned in 2018 after extensive testing, Admiral Gorshkov is the first ship in a new series of frigates designed to replace aging Soviet destroyers as a key strike component of the Russian Navy. Armed with an array of missiles, the ship is 130 meters (427 feet) long and has a crew of around 200.
