USA: Objects dropped near Alaska and Canada possibly balloons

The US believes the two planes shot down over Canada and Alaska were balloons. Senate Majority Leader Schumer said this in an interview with ABC News.

The two balloons launched on Friday were smaller than the Chinese balloon launched over the Atlantic last week, Schumer said. However, the This Week interview didn’t make it clear who will own the two devices.

The first object was dropped over Alaska on Friday. A similar aircraft was shot down in Canadian airspace today with the cooperation of the US and Canadian Air Forces. Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau said that the search for the wreckage is still ongoing.

‘Very important’

Trudeau stressed that many things about the incident are still unclear. “Therefore, the analysis of this object becomes very important.” Trudeau didn’t say what kind of device it might be or where it came from.

Schumer is the first official to openly state that there are two balloons. He relies on the information provided by National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan. According to Schumer, dropping it was an appropriate response, as the objects were flying at the same height as commercial aviation.

According to Washington, the great Chinese bubble that was dropped in early February was part of a large-scale espionage operation. Washington says the balloon will gather information and is directly linked to the Chinese military. China denies these allegations. To Beijing, it’s a messy weather balloon.
