Thanks to the navigation app of the two arrested Dutchmen, Belgian police found a warehouse containing large quantities of cocaine.
The men, aged 27 and 46, were arrested near Turnhout last night after police received a suspicious activity report. Several cars with Dutch license plates drove back and forth in the area.
The car the duo was in was stopped and the Dutch could not explain why they were in Belgium. It turned out that they had already been arrested in the Netherlands for drug-related crimes. A third man managed to escape the control of the Belgian police, but was soon arrested. It is unknown what nationality he is.
A container with bags of drugs
In the navigation app on one of the alleged Dutch phones, police saw the address of a warehouse stored in Ravels. At the address, police found a container containing 68 bags of cocaine.
There were also seven other people arrested in the barracks. His nationality was not disclosed. Dozens are being questioned and still in custody.
The weight of the drug is estimated by the prosecution at around 4,000 kilograms, but this needs to be investigated further. Based on previous hunts, the market cap at this weight could be well over €100 million.
