The video surveillance camera captured the moment when the man threw a Molotov cocktail at the other two in front of the mother, who was putting the children in the car. He threw another firebomb at the victim’s mother’s house, shattering a window.
Anthony Morgan, 35, threw a firearm at Salem Khan and Mackenzie Pring in Cardiff on September 6 last year after they accused him of being “marijuana” and threatened him. He used racial slurs towards the men, then drove up to them and threw a glass gasoline bottle and a flaming rag which narrowly missed them.
Footage shown at a sentencing hearing at Cardiff Crown Court on Wednesday showed the horrified mother witnessing the attack in Heol Eglwys, Ely, shortly after putting her children in the car. Morgan was seen throwing a firebomb from his car at Khan and Pring as they walked down the street.

The two victims then ran to Pring’s mother Danielle’s house, who was nearby, and Khan shouted: “Help, he’s going to kill me, he’s going to throw acid on me”. They were pursued by Morgan, who threw another firebomb through the window, which shattered the front bedroom window and started a fire.
Neighbors had to help extinguish the fire before police and firefighters arrived on the scene. The cops went to Morgan’s partner’s house down the street, but they weren’t there, but it was clear that Molotov cocktails were being made at the address.
Morgan, of Adamsdown Lane, Adamsdown, was arrested the same day and later pleaded guilty to arson and arson with intent to endanger life. The court heard he had 22 previous convictions, including public order offences, violent offenses and criminal mischief.
In a victim impact statement read out in court, Danielle Pring said: “I believe that the actions of Anthony Morgan and others involved in blowing up my home have ruined my quality of life. It affects me every day, it affects me mentally and I don’t feel safe in my own home anymore. I suffer from anxiety and depression and this incident is keeping me awake. I stay up all night and am constantly exhausted. I feel nervous all the time and have panic attacks.”
As a mitigating factor, defense attorney John Ryan said Morgan said Khan broke his partner’s window the night before and stayed in the car that night to watch the house. He also claimed that Mr. Han and Mr. Pring threatened to shoot and decapitate him and his partner. Ryan said the defendant’s lack of sleep and substance abuse played a role in the events.
Judge Tracey Lloyd-Clarke sentenced Morgan to nine years in prison with a two-year suspended license. He will serve two-thirds of his sentence before he can be released and is also out on bail.
