War in Ukraine, Stoltenberg: ok to join Sweden and Finland

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg announces Sweden and Finland’s accession to the Atlantic Alliance in Turkey. This statement was made by the secretary general of the Atlantic Alliance, Jens Stoltenberg, during a joint press conference with the Turkish Foreign Minister, Mevlut Cavusoglu.

“The two countries have taken important steps since the signing of the joint memorandum. They lifted restrictions on arms exports (to Turkey, ed) and took further steps in terms of cooperation in the field of terrorism”, continued Stoltenberg addressing Turkey, the only country together with Hungary that has not yet ratified the membership of Sweden and Finland to NATO. “Sweden is amending its constitution,” added the secretary general, acknowledging that Turkey “has legitimate security concerns.”
