The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskycriticized Europe for “responding silently” to the humanitarian disaster in the city Mariupolin the south of the country, caused by the Russian bombardment and siege.

It is estimated that some 160,000 civilians have been living without basic services for more than a month in Mariupol, a port on the Sea of Azov that has become the main target of Russian forces in Ukraine due to its strategic location between the peninsula of Crimea and the Dombas

“Europe has no right to respond silently to what is happening in our Mariupol. The whole world must respond to this humanitarian catastrophe,” Zelensky denounced in his late-night address released by the presidency on Friday.
