A 16-year-old student stabbed her teacher to death. The incident occurred this Wednesday morning in Saint-Jean-de-Luz, in the center of the Pyrenees, in France. The reasons for the action are not yet known.
The murder took place at the Catholic high school Saint Thomas d’Aquin. Le Parisien writes that the victim was a 50-year-old Spanish teacher. The boy was arrested. More details are currently unknown. Therefore, it is unknown whether this was a premeditated gesture or what the motives behind the attack were. According to a police source in Le Figaro, a 16-year-old high school freshman “heard voices last night trying to kill his Spanish teacher”.
Education Minister Pap Ndiaye is expected to be at the scene. The drama brought to mind the case of Samuel Paty, a middle school teacher in Paris, who was beheaded by an 18-year-old boy for showing students two caricatures of Muhammad in a 2020 free speech class.
