Nobody likes the peace plan in Ukraine. Not even for Russia. “China is a huge country, it is the most powerful country, whose interests no actor on the international stage can ignore. China made itself heard, any attempt to formulate theses to reach a peaceful solution to the problem is welcome but, of course, the nuances are important. The current situation gives no hope of discussing these nuances, and therefore the special operation continues,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in an interview with Izvestia.
Already yesterday the Kremlin had cooled the possibility of a ceasefire, again through Peskov: “Russia does not currently see any prerequisites for resolving the situation around Ukraine in a peaceful direction, which makes it necessary to continue an operation Russia cannot imagine circumstances under which the return of Crimea to Ukraine is possible and the peninsula is an integral part of the Russian Federation.” The end of the fighting is increasingly distant.
