Twelve seconds of nightmare: the violent collision between two trains near Tempe, in central Greece, left at least 32 dead and another 85 injured. The governor of the Thessaly region, Konstantinos Agorastos, immediately spoke about the tragic accident, explaining that 194 passengers were transferred by bus to Thessaloniki. A passenger train from Athens bound for the northern city of Thessaloniki and a freight train from Thessaloniki bound for Larissa were involved in the accident. After the impact, according to an initial reconstruction, there was panic: cables, metal sheets and flames. Firefighters have been doing very hard work for hours to rescue trapped survivors.
