Teachers in Wales are on strike today over pay

The Welsh teachers’ union is in a second pay dispute today.

The action was suspended last month while the National Union of Education (NEU) evaluated an improved package, which it subsequently rejected.

The NEU said the offer was “inadequate”, but the Welsh government insisted it was a “strong” deal. The ministers proposed a new wage increase of 1.5%, in addition to the 5% already promised for this year.
