A bus carrying 40 children aged 6 to 10 swerved off the road in the French municipality of Corps and fell several meters to the ground. There were six adults on the bus.
According to French authorities, 21 people were injured, 2 of whom were taken to hospital in serious condition. It affects the bus driver and a supervisor of the children.
Travelers were returning from a ski vacation in the French Alps when they turned off the road about 40 kilometers south of Grenoble.
According to local officials, 90 firefighters were dispatched to the scene. It is not yet clear how the winner happened.
The children and their caregivers hail from the town of Sceaux, south of Paris. The city’s mayor, Philippe Laurent, told the French newspaper Le Parisien that “everything is less serious than they initially expected.” According to Laurent, the bus driver fell ill and went into a straight bend.
