Rail passengers are urged to check their travel as security checks are carried out on some Transport for Wales trains following multiple reports of fires. In this regard, there is a warning about traffic restrictions on various routes.

Services between Cardiff Central and Treherbert, between Carmarthen and Milford Haven, between Carmarthen and Fishguard Harbor and between Wolverhampton and Birmingham International were affected by carriage shortages.

Director of Transport Operations for Wales Jan Chaudhry van der Velde said that “safety was the number one priority”. There have been reports of fires on some trains, so safety checks are ongoing.

In a taped statement, he said: “We have to withdraw some of our Class 175 trains while carrying out some advanced maintenance procedures on them for safety reasons. This will leave us a bit without rolling stock for a while. days while we send all the train schedules, but once the trains finish the schedule, they will return to passenger service.

“The rolling stock situation will gradually improve in the coming days. We ask passengers to be patient with us and check that the train is running normally.”

Class 175 trains form the backbone of TfW’s express services running the Wales and Borders network in south, north and west Wales and across the borders.

The renovation work on the long-distance train fleet was concluded at the beginning of last year. The buses will replace canceled trains in Wales and passengers with tickets will be able to complete their journey with any other operator between Wolverhampton and Birmingham.
