Pope calls for arrest of smugglers after migrant ship crash in Italy

The Argentine pope, a staunch supporter of refugees, said at the end of his Angelus prayer: “Stop letting the smugglers control the lives of so many innocent people!” he demanded.

The 86-year-old pope said: “Let the journeys of hope be journeys of death never again! May the clear waters of the Mediterranean no longer be filled with blood by such dramatic events!”
