Moldova must break away from the West and fight for a future alongside Russia. It is Moscow’s ‘secret plan’ contained in a strategic document revealed by the German media Wdr, Ndr and Sueddeutsche Zeitung. Russia’s strategy, according to the document, provides for political control of Moldova by 2030 and, at the same time, the country’s distancing from Western partners. Before the start of the war in Ukraine in the summer of 2021, the Russian presidential administration would have defined in a strategic document how to promote pro-Russian tendencies in Moldova and, at the same time, prevent the country from turning to the West.
In five pages, the strategic plan summarizes Russia’s political, military, security, commercial, economic and social objectives in Moldova. The document appears to come from the same experts who would have drawn up a strategy for the annexation of Belarus. Moldova is seen in the document as an important arena for confrontation with the West. One of Russia’s main goals for the next ten years is to “counteract attempts by external actors to interfere in the internal affairs of the republic of Moldova”. Evidence of attempts to destabilize Vladimir Putin’s men.
