Rodolfo Ucrós Rosales, mayor of the municipality of Soledad, expressed his solidarity with the family of social leader Miguel Ángel Arrieta Mendoza, 51 years old and known as ‘El Pibe Soledeño’, shot dead on the morning of this Friday, March 17 in his own bicycle shop.
The president of the population of the metropolitan area of Barranquilla stated in a press conference that he regretted that the serious public order situation facing the municipality “has begun to disturb the tranquility of this citizen”.
He then specified that up to 20 million pesos were offered for information on the perpetrators of the attack that took place around 8:00 am in the Villa Adela district of the city.
“This person was known as the Pibe Soledeño. The mayor’s office is offering a reward to anyone who provides information leading to the arrest of the hitmen or criminals who took the life of Migue Arrieta,” the president announced.
On the other hand, Ucrós Rosales announced a peaceful march for next Thursday, March 23 in protest of the insecurity they face.
“We call on all the people of Soledad, business people, JAC members, ward leaders, social leaders, business people and political leaders, to join us in this great peaceful march on Thursday, March 23 at 8:00 a.m., which aims to start Starting from the Nevada de Coolitoral and going to the main square of Soledad, we are tired of living in uncertainty,” he reported.
Similarly, the mayor said that “the national government should look at this part of the Colombian territory. We ask President Petro to help us by expanding the police force, this is the eighth territorial entity in the whole nation and there are no men (police) in our jurisdiction. We also ask the government to strengthen social programs that prevent young people from continuing to strengthen criminal gangs.
