A cat has been found missing for seven days after a deadly explosion at a house in Swansea. Teddy, owned by the Bennett family, was reported missing after the explosion on Clyde Road in Morriston on March 13.

Claire Bennett and her son Ethan were rescued from the rubble of their home, along with their dog and cat Fern. But Teddy, who was sitting next to Mrs. Bennett at the time of the explosion has not been found, raising fears that he may not have survived the explosion. The explosion claimed the life of Brian Davies, 68, while Claire and her son Ethan narrowly escaped.

Officers from South Wales Police, Swansea Cat Protection and Llys Nini RSPCA worked tirelessly to try to find the Bennetts’ missing pet and were able to retrieve him on Sunday. It was in a dusty state but intact.

The house became a heap of ruins.

The Llys Nini RSPCA said in a statement on Sunday: “We did it, Teddy got caught. After the horrific gas explosion last Monday, Claire and her son Ethan were pulled from the rubble of their home. Rescuers also saved the puppy. it was in her drawer in the living room. Later that day, an RSPCA inspector found Claire’s rag doll, Fern, and took her to the vet. Fortunately, Fern was fine and transferred to Llis Nini for an emergency landing where she was retransplanted. she joined Ethan.

“Claire suffered multiple serious injuries and was in the hospital all week, and was released today. Meanwhile, Teddy, her rag doll who was sitting next to her during the explosion, has disappeared. There was concern that he had not survived the explosion. , but on Tuesday night he was discovered by Ann from Swansea Cat Protection, Sally from Llys Nini and some South Wales Police.

“Since then, both charities have been working tirelessly to try to catch Teddy so they can reunite him. Due to access restrictions due to the dangerous condition of the surrounding buildings, this proved to be very difficult. Claire was released from the hospital on Sunday and went straight to the ruins of the house to see if Teddy would respond to her whistle. However, when she arrived, she was met with the news that Teddy was under arrest. He was dusty, a little crooked, but otherwise looks unharmed (will get a vet to look him over). Needless to say, everyone was in tears – Claire, her owner, Emily, who contacted first responders, first responders and the South Wales Police Service.

“This rescue was carried out by RSPCA Llys Nini and Swansea Cats Protection with on-site support and assistance from British Gas engineers, Swansea Council staff and South Wales Police. Llys Nini is also providing a safe haven for other pets displaced after the horrific explosion.”

South Wales Police tweeted: “After such sad events this week at Clyde Road Morriston we have great news that PCSO Reed & Howells have found Teddy the cat safe and sound. Also Sally Hyman, RSPCA. Lili Nini. Teddy has spent the past seven days in the damaged building.
