A “wimpy” pedophile used the Kik chat site to meet a “13-year-old” girl who was actually an undercover police officer, but changed his mind at the last minute. Jonathan Williams, 32, met Grace in a car park in Llanberis, Gwynedd, on Feb 2, despite her telling him she was 13. But instead he walked past the meeting point, seemingly unable to get through.
Undercover officers were waiting for Williams and followed his Vauxhall Corsa to a temporary traffic light before smashing the car window to physically remove him from the vehicle, North Wales Live reported. His phone was seized, which revealed that he was the man who had been communicating with “Grace” under the name Wimp Boy.
Williams, of Silfac Crevis, Penrosgarned, appeared before the Crown Court of Caernarfon, where a judge said he had “plunged into the world of paedophilia” and had devastated his family.

Prosecutor David Mainstone said last July that Williams had an online sexual conversation on the Kik app with a “girl” named Grace who was an undercover police officer. He asked if she had intimately touched her husband.
In Arfon a possible meeting was discussed, but he wrote: “You are young, so it is dangerous”, and it never happened. But the promoter said that in January and February of this year, Williams struck up a new conversation with “Grace” about Kick, who again said he was 13 and from Llanburys. He made sexual comments and asked to take pictures of her panties.
A photo of the top of the red panties was sent. Williams replied: “Bad photo. Let’s see them all.”
Eventually, “Grace” and Williams agreed to meet in the Llanburys car park.
Helen Owen, in defense, said her client caught a cold and decided not to proceed. He panicked when police approached his car at a stoplight. He added that there is an “element of inadequacy” to his “somewhat pathetic” character and that he still has a long way to go to rehabilitate himself.
Williams was supported in court by his partner and his parents, who were described as “absolutely traumatized” by what their only child had done.
Williams admitted to trying to sexually assault a girl between the ages of 13 and 15 between January 15 and February 3 of this year, and trying to find a girl under the age of 15 after getting ready on February 2.
His Honorable Judge Nicola Saffman told the defendant, “You are a pedophile. You are a person who is sexually attracted to young children.
“You intended to go to Llanberis (to meet) the boy, but you were too much of a coward to do so. I have no doubt that you would commit an act by trying to engage in sexual activity with a child.
“What you did was actually immerse yourself in the world of a pedophile.”
She believed that society in North Wales and Gwynedd in particular would be better off if she “nipped her lewd behavior in the bud” to prevent it escalating, and the highly experienced probation officer agreed.
He was sentenced to 16 months in prison for trying to find a minor and six months in prison for trying to incite a child to commit sexual acts, both suspended for two years.
Williams now must complete at least 35 sessions of Horizon’s sex offender course, spend 60 days in rehab and wear an electronic tag for two years so probation officers know where she is. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison for sexual assault with conditions controlling Internet use.
A judge praised the North Wales Police for their work. She said: “We often see hunters of self-described pedophiles in this courtroom, but this was an organized and measured police investigation.”
