The Taliban arrested three Britons in Afghanistan. One of them is a 23-year-old man known as an adventurer. When the Taliban came to power in Afghanistan in August 2021, he was evacuated by British soldiers along with other British, but later returned, British media reported. The other two are a Middlesbrough social worker volunteering in Afghanistan and a hotel operator in Kabul.
The social worker and hotelier was arrested on January 11, according to charity Presidium Network. The third man from another date was arrested. The Presidential Network says they are well-treated and known to be in good health. British authorities are trying to contact them.

The hotelier and social worker are said to have been arrested for finding a gun in the safe in the social worker’s hotel room. It is not known why the police room was searched. The man is said to have a firearms license issued by the Afghan Ministry of Interior.
The third Englishman is from Birmingham. He became known for frequently traveling to dangerous areas and reporting this on social media. He said he went to Afghanistan because he loves “dark” and “extreme” tourism.
