Russia and America today, “relations in deep crisis”. the worst case scenario

Vladimir Putin is once again attacking the United States with whom relations are “in deep crisis”. According to the Kremlin leader, it was Washington’s support for the “2014 Kiev coup” that led to the current conflict in Ukraine. In addition, Western intelligence services are said to be “engaged in the preparation of sabotage and terrorist attacks that took place on Russian territory.” Despite everything, Putin, during the ceremony for receiving the credentials of foreign ambassadors, affirms that Russia does not have “hostile intentions” towards any country, is “open to dialogue with everyone” and “will not isolate itself”.

That the relationship between Russia and the US is in a “warm phase” because “Ukrainian Nazis are fighting mainly with American weapons” is also confirmed by Moscow Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. At the same time, however, the head of Russian diplomacy specifies that contacts “must be maintained”. The United States, for its part, is once again calling for the release of Wall Street Journal journalist Evan Gershkovich. In this regard, Secretary of State Blinken explains that he “has no doubt” on a personal level that the arrest is “illegal”.

As Russia and the US continue their verbal skirmishes, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky travels to Warsaw, where he is welcomed by his Polish counterpart Andrzej Duda. Poland announces that it has already transferred eight Mig-29 fighters to Kiev and is preparing to do the same with another six. “There is no doubt that you are an exceptional person, you have not left Ukraine and your compatriots. You are an exemplary leader,” Duda’s words addressed to Zelensky, who was awarded the Order of the White Eagle, the country’s highest award. Kiev’s leader speaks of a “reunion of friends” and a future where “there will be no political, economic and – very important – historical borders” between the two peoples.

As for the battlefield, Zelensky confirms that the most complex context remains that of Bakhmut, but denies that the city is in the hands of Russian forces. “It is the most difficult situation in the whole territory of our country, but we are in Bakhmut and the enemy does not control the city. This is the situation today”, words of the Ukrainian president speaking about the military equipment coming from Poland as capable of “turning the tide” in battle. But in addition to defense, Ukraine is also preparing for the counterattack. This is confirmed by Mikhyalo Podolyak, an influential adviser to Zelensky, according to whom in “six or seven months” Ukrainian troops will “enter the Crimea” and “drive out the Russian world as a whole.” Indeed, according to Kiev leaders, Moscow’s armed forces “do not have enough resources to maintain the situation.”
