A four-vehicle accident closed a lane on the M4 near Cardiff on Thursday morning (April 6).

It occurred on the westbound carriageway near junction 29 (junction A48M), the first exit for Cardiff on the A48.

All lanes are open again but there were 30 minute delays for a while afterwards.

Earlier, cameras in the area showed people getting out of their cars and heading to the outside lane.

Traffic returned to normal at 9:30 am.

Now the traffic jams are gone

Traffic was slow and normalized during the day.

All lanes were reopened and traffic officials cleared the wreckage.

30 minutes late

The traffic monitoring system reports “heavy traffic jams” in the area.

The vehicles involved were moved to the side of the road and all lanes were reopened, but delays of around 30 minutes are expected.

Traffic was stopped until around 8:10 am.
