Shocking footage showed an Amazon delivery truck rolling down a hill in Newport, with the helpless driver chasing after it. Doorbell footage shows the van hitting two walls before the driver jumps into an open door and appears to apply the handbrake in front of another wall.
One resident, whose wall collapsed during the incident, said the powerful external impact was like a train slamming into his window. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident, which took place on Tuesday, April 4, on Stelvio Park Drive in Newport, and nothing was damaged except for two brick walls and sidewalks, local residents said.
Martin Fowler, who was working from home that day, told WalesOnline: “I heard what I can only describe as a train outside the door. I went to the front door and from there I could only see the wall on the right side.
“This guy was standing at the end of the driveway and an Amazon van was parked in the driveway. I thought, “What the hell happened here?” When I went out to meet him, my son’s car was right next to the wall along the sidewalk, the middle of the wall was down and he overtook the car by a meter.”

Surprised, Martin added: “My door was in the neighboring entrance in the middle of the wall. In the screenshots you can see how he pulls the handbrake before the next wall. Martin’s driveway no longer looks messy after garbage crews arrived at the lot on Wednesday to clean it up. “They came to collect the bricks and now it’s safe,” he said. “No one has assessed the damage. When the wall fell, it damaged part of the asphalt. The neighboring highway was also affected. I predict it will be a nightmare to deal with.”
An Amazon representative said: “We are working closely with our delivery service provider to ensure this issue is resolved as quickly as possible.”
