Ukrainian war, minister Lavrov dictates conditions: new world order

Moscow does not refuse peace talks with Ukraine, but they are only possible if they aim to establish a “new world order” without American dominance. This statement was made by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Serghei Lavrov, at a press conference in Ankara. “Negotiations can only take place with Russian interests in mind,” explained Lavrov. “These are the principles on which the new world order will be based”, he added, speaking to the press after talks with his Turkish counterpart, Mevlut Cavusoglu.

During the Russia-Turkey summit, however, the crux of relations between Ankara and Syria was also addressed. “It is necessary to continue the dialogue.” With these words, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu hailed Russia’s mediating efforts to pressure Ankara and Damascus to normalize relations, which had stalled in 2011. “Moscow has taken a clear position and we want this process to proceed clearly. It is necessary to continue the dialogue and intensify the consultations. Today we talk about a four-way meeting between the foreign ministers (from Turkey, Russia, Syria and Iran ed)”, said Cavusoglu at a press conference with his Russian colleague, Serghei
Lavrov.
