EU, the green crusade doesn’t even attract the Germans. Shocking poll: Scholz in the balance

Dissatisfaction with the work of the governing coalition in Germany is growing. Currently, seven out of ten citizens are dissatisfied or not at all satisfied with the work of the government led by Chancellor Olaf Scholz. The value rose six percentage points compared to March, as shown by the survey of Ard Germany. As a result, satisfaction with the ‘traffic light coalition’ formed by the SPD, FDP and Verdes dropped to a minimum in the current election period.

The survey also revealed that 44% of respondents would like more climate protection soon. According to 27 percent, however, changes are already happening very quickly. A minority of 18% believe that the speed of climate initiatives is correct. According to the survey, Green supporters (76%) in particular want faster change. But even one in two supporters of coalition partners SPD (50%) and FDP (48%) expect faster climate protection.

The situation is different for the opposition in the Bundestag: a relative majority of supporters of the Union (45%) and the AfD (50%) believe that changes are happening too quickly. Four out of ten eligible voters (40%) consider the rules adopted for the installation of new heating systems from 2024 to be adequate. 65% of new heating systems in Germany will have to be powered by renewable energy.

The majority (56%) support faster implementation of already approved motorway projects, while one in three (32%) are against it. A planned toll increase for articulated trucks is supported in roughly similar proportions: 43% in favor and 45% against. One in three respondents said they were in favor of the EU’s decision to ban the registration of new vehicles with combustion engines that require fossil fuels from 2035 onwards. The majority (55%) however, are against this measure.
