The fall of another crux of the war in Ukraine is at hand. “Russia has probably advanced as far as central Bakhmut”, reports the British Ministry of Defense in its latest intelligence update, according to which “Russian forces have regained momentum in the battle for Bakhmut”. Russian forces “probably advanced into Bakhmut city center and seized the western bank of the Bakhmutka river”, writes the UK Ministry of Defence, which adds that “Ukraine’s main supply route west of the city is probably seriously threatened”. “It is realistically possible that locally, Wagner and Russian Ministry of Defense commanders ended their ongoing rivalry and improved cooperation,” continued London in the war bulletin.
The head of the Wagner group, Yevgeny Prigozhin, who a few days ago had already claimed the conquest of Bakhmut, gave updates on the confrontation between the armed forces: “Ukrainian forces continue to resist Russia’s attempts to conquer the eastern city of Bakhmut, which now it could be conquered in three or four weeks.” Capitulation is only a matter of time.
