North Korea still scares the world. Pyongyang said it tested a second type of nuclear-capable submarine attack drone this week designed to destroy military ships and ports, another weapons demonstration this year that has raised tensions with rivals. News of the test came a day after nuclear envoys from the United States, South Korea and Japan met in Seoul to discuss the growing North Korean nuclear threat and urged more international efforts to crack down on North Korean funding of illicit activities in support of to the weapons program.
The ‘Haeil-2’ submarine nuclear strike drone flew 1,000 km simulated underwater distance in the East Korean Sea for 71 hours and 6 minutes, the official Korean Central News Agency wrote. “The test perfectly demonstrated the reliability of the underwater strategic weapons system and its fatal strike capability. The system will serve as an advantageous and prospective military potential of the North Korean armed forces, essential to contain all evolving military actions of enemies, remove threats and defend the country” the message launched by the regime of Kim Jong-un.
