A shocking video is circulating on social media where the Dalai Lama asks a 10-11 year old boy to suck his tongue after being kissed on the lips. The incident occurred during an incident in the northern Indian city of Dharamshala in February, but footage has just been circulating online. All international media reported the news.
Inviting a young boy to the stage, the oldest spiritual figure of Tibetan Buddhism (87 years old) asked him to kiss her first on the cheek, then on the lips. Immediately after, he said the offending phrase: “Suck my tongue”.
The Dalai Lama’s stance, which was judged unacceptable, forced the Buddhist leader to apologize. The Dalai Lama “wants to apologize to the boy and his family for any pain his words may have caused, as well as to his many friends around the world.” The Buddhist leader – he adds – “regrets” his actions: “His Holiness often innocently and playfully mocks the people he meets, even in public and in front of the cameras”.
