78-year-old commits bank robbery, arrested: third blow to his “career”

Rob a bank isn’t just a “job” for teenagers. A 78-year-old woman has been arrested on bank robbery charges: This is the third time this has happened to her.

It looks like a movie, but it’s all real. Bonnie Gooch walked into Goppert Financial Bank in Kansas City, Missouri wearing a black N95 mask, sunglasses, and latex gloves. Without hesitation, She approached the safe and handed the banker a note that read, “I need the small $13,000 bills.” He left, leaving another note for the clerk, “Sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you.” After the theft, he got into his Buick Enclave and fled.

He was stopped by the police soon after, and the agents were initially unaware that the old woman was the robber that everyone was after. Money was scattered on the floor of the car, and the woman smelled heavily of alcohol. Gooch’s precedents date back to 1977 and 2020, the second time he had given the employee a birthday card that read, “This is a robbery.”

His probation for the 2020 heist expired in November 2021. Pleasant Hill Police Chief Tommy Wright said: Ms. Gooch has no ‘diagnosed’ physical or psychological ailments, but the case will be examined with great care given her age.
