Police are investigating after a nightclub employee allegedly injured a young man off-site. Arch in Neath confirmed to WalesOnline that they had suspended the employee “pending the outcome of an investigation”.

South Wales Police said officers were investigating a “robbery” which was reported around 10.20pm last Friday in Commercial Street. The force confirmed that a 21-year-old man from Neath was taken to Morriston Hospital and treated for facial injuries.

The cell phone video allegedly shows the aftermath of the alleged altercation. In it, you can hear a man calling an ambulance.

A representative for the venue said: “This is the first time we have seen the video you shared. Let’s study it thoroughly and find out who said what. We recognize that there are multiple sides to the story, as there always are, but we’re confident we’ll get to the bottom of it and resolve it in the best way for everyone.”

An Arch spokesperson added: “Shortly after 10:20 pm on Friday, we were called about an incident outside our premises. At first we didn’t know what had happened. A member of staff trained in first aid appeared as soon as we noticed. We tried to treat a young man who appeared to have a facial injury, he refused and the young man, another bystander and an employee called 911.

“We are working continuously with South Wales Police during the investigation, we have provided security cameras and have taken the decision to suspend the officer pending the outcome of the investigation. We cannot comment on what caused the incident as it is still being determined.

“We can assure you that we take this matter very seriously, we do not condone or condone violent behavior and we are committed to finding ways to prevent similar incidents in the future. It is sad to see unnecessary threats, insults and hate directed at employees who were not involved or had limited knowledge of the incident and were just doing their jobs, some of which had a detrimental effect on their mental health.”

They added, “We also share [people’s] we are worried about the young man and hope he makes a full recovery as soon as possible… As managers we are not cruel people and we absolutely do not want people to get hurt. We are happiest when we see smiling faces leaving our premises.”
