The Venezuelan military detained a man in Táchira state, Venezuela, when he transported 15.7 kilograms of cocaine, Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) operational strategic commander Domingo Hernández Lárez reported this Sunday.
The operation was carried out at a security post in Ayacucho municipality, where the person was apprehended, who was “wearing concealed 144 ace gloves impregnated with an alleged drug called cocaine,” the official said via Twitter.
The illegal substances, “from Colombia”, were destined for the Venezuelan state of Mérida, Hernández Lárez continued on the same social network, where he shared photos of the detainee and the drugs seized.
The commander added that the detainee, about whom he gave no further details, has already been placed by order of the public prosecutor’s office and will be presented to the court later.
Last week, officers from the Scientific, Criminal and Criminal Investigations Corps (CICPC) arrested four men carrying 125 kilograms of marijuana on the Venezuelan island of Margarita, in the island state of Nueva Esparta (Caribbean Sea).
Interior and Justice Minister Remigio Ceballos reported in mid-March that the country’s authorities had seized 21,595 kilograms of drugs to date, an increase of 114.83% compared to the same period last year.
