Baltic Sea, Russian fighters in flight: “Targets destroyed”. High voltage

Germany and Great Britain intercepted three Russian reconnaissance planes flying over the Baltic Sea. The announcement was made by the German Air Force. “German and British Eurofighters were alerted to identify three military aircraft. The two Russian SU-27 Flankers and one IL-20 were again flying unresponsive to signals in international airspace over the Baltic Sea,” he wrote on his Twitter profile. . Germany and the United Kingdom participate in NATO in the surveillance of the airspace above the Baltic countries. Since before the invasion of Ukraine, aircraft from both sides have been periodically reported, usually over the Baltic Sea, but also over the Black Sea and other airspaces.

Meanwhile, a dozen Russian Sukhoi Su-27 fighters from the Baltic Fleet participated in an exercise in which an attempted attack was simulated. According to the fleet’s press office, quoted by the Interfax agency, the simulation predicted the shooting down of enemy planes that intended to hit “strategically important military structures” with missiles and bombs. The Russian military reported that virtually all targets were destroyed.

Sightings and dangerous contacts continue in the region. On Monday, April 24, a Russian Ilyushin 20 reconnaissance plane flying over the Baltic Sea without recognizing the signal raised the alarm at Laage airbase in the German state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The plane flew over the Kaliningrad area, in the international zone, without a transponder, without contact with the air safety control center and without a flight plan. Last month, the Russian Air Force had intercepted an American MQ-9 Reaper drone over the Black Sea, which then crashed: an incident that sparked a blissfully temporary rise in tensions between Moscow and Washington.
