“20,000 Ukrainian children were abducted and held in Russian concentration camps”

“Twenty thousand children have been kidnapped and are in 43 Russian concentration camps where the Russians are trying to change their mentality”. These are the words of Denys Shmyhal, the prime minister of Ukraine, who interviewed Bruno Vespa for Porta a porta, aired today, April 26.

Shmyhal explained that the purpose of the Ukrainian counteroffensive was “to win this war, liberate regions and restore peace”. “No one in the world wants peace like we do, but the war will only end when the Russians leave our land and stop shooting,” says Shmyhal. The Prime Minister claimed the success of the Kiev army, which has liberated about 50% of the territory occupied by the Russians in these 14 months. Our Armed Forces – he underlined – want to liberate all our lands within the borders of 1991. Shmyhal repeatedly spoke of the support he received from Europe. “We are convinced that our partners will stay with us until we win,” he said. Shmyahl then ordered the Russians to “end the nuclear and food blackmail, the energy blackmail, and return the prisoners, the 20,000 deported children.”

The prime minister of Ukraine was received this morning by President Sergio Mattarella. Antonio Tajani, Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, was present at the meeting. “I am grateful to Italy for the technical and military assistance it has provided to the Ukrainian defense and security forces – especially for the sixth aid package,” said Denis Shmyhal, according to a statement from the Kiev government. It includes vital air defense systems. I hope the Samp/T system will come to Ukraine as soon as possible to defend the Ukrainian skies.”
