Migrants, shipwreck off Libya: “55 dead”

A new migration drama in the Mediterranean. Dozens of people died in a shipwreck in Libyan waters on Tuesday, according to the International Organization for Migration (IOM). “At least 55 migrants drowned in a tragic shipwreck off the coast of Libya,” the IOM tweet states, where “five survived and were disembarked by the Libyan coastguard.” The boat reportedly left the coastal town of Garabouli and was carrying 60 people, including women and children, on their way to Europe. The five survivors will be three Pakistanis, an Egyptian and a Syrian child.
