He makes a lot of noise while cleaning the garden: the neighbor gets angry and kills him

Ettore Lacchei, 79, was arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of his neighbor in Antioch, a small town in Illinois near the US border with Wisconsin. Allegedly, the man acted in anger at the noise made by his neighbor, who was cleaning the garden with a broom. The facts date back to last April 12, when sheriff’s office agents came to the home of 59-year-old William Martys and found the man with a gunshot wound to the head, Martys later died in hospital.

Killed his neighbor for making too much noise: arrested

Police arrested him last Tuesday after a two-week investigation and charged him with first-degree murder. Agents also intervened as the man prepares to leave for a vacation in Italy. According to the investigators’ reconstruction, “While Martys was using a leaf extractor in his garden, Lacchei, who had started an argument, approached him and in the middle of the argument drew his gun and shot him”. “Once again, too easy access to weapons turned an argument into a deadly crime,” said Lake County Attorney Eric Rinehart.

Serial crimes in recent weeks

In fact, there have been a number of similar incidents in the United States in recent weeks that have garnered national and international attention and sparked the debate on gun violence. In Missouri, 16-year-old African-American Ralph Yarl was injured in the head by an 84-year-old man for calling the wrong address. While outside of New York, 20-year-old Kaylin Gillis was killed from the porch of her home by a man who accidentally opened fire on a car that had entered his property. Later, two girls returning from cheerleading practice in Texas were injured after accidentally opening the door of a car that didn’t belong to them. And most recently, in North Carolina, a 6-year-old girl and her father were injured by a man who opened fire after a soccer ball fell in their backyard.
