School bus driver faints: little boy drives the car and saves everyone

In Warren, a town near Detroit, Michigan, an illness struck by a school bus driver could have cost the lives of 66 children. While driving the car, the man fell ill and lost consciousness: only the timely intervention of a 13-year-old student made it possible to avoid the tragedy. Realizing that the driver had passed out, the young passenger managed to calmly drive the bus, pull over and brake, avoiding the worst for himself and the 65 other children on board.

The episode took place last Wednesday near Detroit: 66 students who had just left Carter Middle School and were ready to go home were on the school bus. However, during the trip, the driver fell ill, lost consciousness and left the vehicle running without a guide. The intervention of 13-year-old Dillon Reeves was crucial, and he immediately got behind the wheel of the school bus, stopping the vehicle before it caused an accident.

While the security cameras placed on the bus instantly captured the scene, these images became the agenda on social media. In the footage, it is seen that the driver is trying to report his situation by radio while continuing his vehicle journey without losing consciousness. A few seconds later, the 13-year-old boy, who found the brake pedal and managed to pull over, steps in and asks his friends to call for help.

The young hero’s act was publicly praised by Warren City Councilor Jonathan Lafferty: “This young man acted when the school bus driver had a medical emergency, stopped the bus and avoided an accident that could have been very tragic. To you for your heroic deeds.”
