He angers passengers and a fight breaks out in the subway: a man dies

He is caught in a vise by another passenger and dies on the subway. It happened Monday afternoon in Manhattan, in the heart of New York. It was 2:27 p.m. when police were called into a fight inside a stationary train waiting for help at the Broadway-Lafayette Avenue/Bleecker Avenue station. As a 30-year-old man dies, the condition of the passenger with whom he had a fight and who possibly caused his death is being investigated by the authorities.

According to the information obtained, the deceased young man began to disturb the other passengers with an aggressive attitude, until a boy six years younger than himself intervened to calm him down. An attempt that resulted in violence that proved deadly, as illustrated in a video posted to Facebook by freelance journalist Juan Alberto Vazquez.

In the video, the passenger is seen holding his grip for a while, wrapping his arms around the victim’s neck. The 30-year-old desperately tries to save himself until he passes out. Attempts to revive him will be in vain. The man was taken to Lenox Health hospital in Greenwich Village, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

24-year-old (according to sources cited by New York Post allegedly a former sailor) was detained by the police for questioning, but was immediately released. He is currently not officially under investigation and there are no charges against him. Investigations are ongoing and police are waiting for the autopsy report to know the exact cause of death.

What is certain is that the video is quite meaningful. According to the journalist who viewed the scene, the 30-year-old would start shouting “aggressively” at other passengers and complain that he had neither food nor drink. “I don’t care if I go to jail and end my life there. I’m ready to die,” he said. An explosion that didn’t scare the people in the convoy a bit. However, Vazquez also reported that so far the man had not physically attacked any passengers.

The fact is, the old sailor intervened and the two of them got into a skirmish. In the video we see the 24-year-old man lying on the ground, the other man with his neck propped up in a vise, and a third passenger trying to keep his arms steady. “The two remained in this position for about 15 minutes while other passengers and the train operator called the police,” Vazquez said. The journalist said that the man “acted and continued to defend himself,” adding that the 24-year-old man intervened to help and that no one there had expected such a dramatic end.
