Just as he was about to board a bus, Wilson Rafael Sarut Mejía, a 20-year-old young man, was apprehended at the Bogota Transport Terminal, implicated in the murder of his uncle Auder de Jesús Sarut Piñeres, 32, in events that took place last February in the La Luz neighborhood of Barranquilla.
The young man had a valid warrant for aggravated murder and apparently fell after police inspection of the passengers remaining in the terminal. The proceedings took place on May 2, according to the report of the Atlantic Section of the Public Prosecution Service.
After the arrest, the young man was placed at the disposal of the investigative body and, after concentrated hearings, a supervisory judge endorsed a tax authority’s claim and ordered his transfer to prison.
With regard to the crime that took place in February, the authority explained that “the events under investigation took place on February 19 this year, when the defendant apparently attacked the victim with a knife in the chest. Although he was taken to a hospital, he died of his serious injuries.
That same version had spread in the media as it was said at the time that there would be a party that Sunday at 10pm at Carrera 15A with Calle 6, in the aforementioned neighbourhood, and in the middle of a fight Wilson Rafael stabbed his uncle. The man’s death was registered on the Camino La Luz-Chinita.
