“I want to assure you that India and I personally will do everything possible to find a solution to the war in Ukraine.” This is the message of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who met Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on the sidelines of the G7. It was the first meeting between the two leaders since the start of the conflict between Kiev and Russia. “The war in Ukraine is a big problem for the whole world. He had many different impacts around the world. But I don’t see the conflict as a political or economic problem. For me, this is a question of humanity, a question of human values,” said the eastern prime minister.
Modi then expressed on Twitter “our clear support for dialogue and diplomacy so that a way forward can be found to resolve the crisis in Ukraine. We will continue to provide humanitarian assistance to the people of Ukraine.” Modi posted a photo of himself and Zelensky on the sidelines of the G7 summit in Hiroshima, Japan. “During the meeting, I spoke about Ukraine’s needs for humanitarian demining and mobile hospitals. I informed Narendra Modi on the formula for peace initiative and invited India to participate”, commented the number one in Kiev after the face-to-face meeting.
