Calls across the country and freezing of assets and current accounts. On Wednesday, May 24, a series of police attacks targeted various Last Generation offices in Germany: the climate activists group is accused of forming a criminal organization. The investigation would involve seven people aged 22 to 38 and was due to take place in April 2022 following an attempted sabotage of an oil pipeline connecting Ingolstadt, Germany, to Trieste, Italy.
The raid was carried out in 15 offices scattered across the country by the order of the Public Prosecutor’s Office. The investigation will build on a series of complaints collected last year for alleged crimes attributable to Last Generation. The defendants are accused of organizing a fundraising campaign specifically to finance criminal acts. The collection would bring 1.4 million euros to the organization’s coffers. After the searches, the assets and current accounts of the suspects were frozen and access to the NGO’s website was blocked. However, none of the activists have been arrested so far, according to the Dpa news agency.
