There were moments of terror when a man opened the emergency exit door on the Asiana Airlines plane with 200 people in South Korea on May 26, at a height of 213 meters from the ground and 2-3 minutes before landing.
A video taken from the cabin of the Airbus 321 and shared on social media shows the plane in flight with its doors wide open and the passengers sitting in the rows exposed to strong winds (the Airbus 321 descends at approximately 262 kilometers per hour, ed.).
The police arrested the perpetrator as a 30-year-old man. The plane landed safely at Daegu International Airport (about 240km southeast of Seoul), but the door was still open and all 194 passengers and six crew members survived. However, 12 people needed medical attention for respiratory problems, and nine of them were hospitalized.
Flight OZ8124 departed from Jeju Island. There were several children on the plane. “They were shaking and crying and scared,” the parent of one of them told the Yonhap news agency.
