The month of May ended in the department of Atlántico and in the city of Barranquilla with an increase in homicides compared to the month of April.
According to the figures of the Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences, as well as data from this medium, it was learned that in the month ending yesterday, 55 murders occurred in the department, and 33 of them in the district.
Compared to April, the statistic is up, as 47 blood crimes occurred at the departmental level and 23 in the capital of Atlantico.
In terms of crime in the metropolitan area, there were 16 homicides in Soledad, 4 more than the previous month (12); five in Malambo, where the figure fell, eight cases were recorded since the previous month. In Luruaco, the other criminal attack took place that completed the 55.
It should be noted that 54 of these offenses were committed with firearms, while one remains to be determined.
Similarly, the 52 fatalities were men, another two women and members of the LGBTIQ+ community.
It should be noted that a massacre took place in the Viña del Rey neighborhood at the end of the month, in which a 33-year-old man, an elderly woman and a 7-year-old boy were killed.
