“We hope that the case of Hernán Darío continues its course in the courts”

After a day of reporting the death of second semester medical student Hernán Darío Rodríguez Urrea, his relatives today hope that the investigation into the act in which he was injured “will continue in court”.

From the entrance of the Institute of Legal Medicine, where their relatives remained stationed on the morning of this Tuesday, June 20, they asked the authorities to step on the accelerator to completely stop the uniformed officers of the Barranquilla Metropolitan Police who intervened on February 11. investigations , in the middle of a police procedure on Calle 84 with Carrera 44 that took place on the night of Guacherna.

It should be noted that the young man from Magangué, Bolívar, and a student at the Universidad Libre, suffered a bullet wound, apparently from an explosion by one of the officers who came to check an alleged disturbance of the public order.

After four months in the hospital of the Reina Catalina clinic and not recovering from the bullet that entered his head, doctors from this care center confirmed the young man’s death at dawn on Monday, June 19.

“We ask for justice because that was a bad procedure carried out by the Metropolitan Police of Barranquilla. We ask for justice and for the full weight of the law to fall on the officer who fired,” said a close friend of the young man, who preferred not to reveal his identity for security reasons.

She also reported that in the early morning of the events “Hernán Darío was from Magangué with his friends. I just dealt with them. They had gone to a nightclub and as they closed it they approached a car radio that read 84 with 44. There the police arrived and fired shots and he, in the midst of his innocence, did not run away. At the time of the incident, he was planning to buy food. That’s what his friends told us, who helped him,” recalls a relative of the victim.

This person finally said that they were waiting in legal medicine for the delivery of the young man’s lifeless body to transfer him to Magangué, a town where he will have a Christian burial.
