On Monday morning, June 26, a 13-story building collapsed on itself in the El-Montazah district of central Alexandria, Egypt. According to local media reports, several rescue teams arrived at the scene of the accident: there were occupants in the building and many were buried under the rubble.

Alexandria Governor Mohammed al-Sharif confirmed that the victims were found under the rubble of the building, which houses a number of apartments that were rented out during the summer holidays. There is also a supermarket on the ground floor of the building, which was used at the time of the demolition. The building is located in the eastern part of the city, in the Sidi Bishr district. Many cars were also damaged in the accident.


In a phone call to the Al-Hadath channel, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health Amira Tahio stated that 4 injured people were transferred to the surrounding hospitals, and that none of the 4 people were inside the building, they were passers-by. injured as a result of the collapse. At this time, Egyptian authorities have not reported an official death toll inside the building.
