It was claimed that human remains were also found in the wreckage of the submarine Titan, which exploded during the voyage to the Titanic. The news comes directly from the US Coast Guard, which will transport the pieces found in the North Atlantic to a US port where doctors will conduct an official analysis of the remains.
“The evidence will give investigators from many international jurisdictions insight into the cause of this tragedy. Much work remains to be done to understand the factors that led to Titan’s catastrophic loss and to ensure that a similar tragedy does not happen again.” Jason Neubauer, Chairman of the Marine Investigation Board.
The news comes nearly a week after officials announced they had found the wreckage of the submarine, which disappeared during an attempt to descend to the ocean floor to explore the remains of the Titanic, and after an international search and rescue operation. The Coast Guard said last week that the five crew members on the submarine were likely killed instantly in a “disastrous explosion”.
Officials say parts of the ship washed up in Newfoundland, Canada, yesterday morning and should help shed light on the tragedy, answering questions about the ship’s experimental design, safety standards and lack of certification.
