Born, no change at the top: the final decision on Stoltenberg

After so many rumors, the decision was made: the mandate of NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg will be extended for another year. The news was released by the Times, which cites diplomatic sources, according to which the Norwegian should remain at the head of the Alliance until the next summit of leaders, which will take place in the summer of 2024.

the decision was already in the air since yesterday morning. “First of all, I think the new NATO Secretary General will be the good old NATO Secretary General. So I think this is new and fresh and I think it’s good, even if we have many strong candidates within NATO and Fredericksen is among them”, the words uttered by the Prime Minister of Estonia, Kaja Kallas, at a press conference at the headquarters of the Representation of Estonia with the EU in Brussels, responding to reporters asking whether the new secretary would be chosen at the Vilnius summit and whether he considered his name or that of Danish Prime Minister Fredericksen as candidates. Pending official communication, Stoltenberg’s reconfirmation to front of the Atlantic Alliance is now a reality.
