France, Brigitte Macron goes shopping: the account that makes Elysium tremble

A salty account, indeed a very salty one, is the one presented to Brigitte Trogneux, wife of the President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron. The première dame spent a good 315,808 euros in 2022. Basically, around 865 euros a day. The reason for this “bleeding of money”? According to the latest checks, Brigitte would have “funded” Elysium for assistants, travel and nights.

A river of public money flowed from the Palazzo’s coffers, detailed in the latest report by the Court of Auditors, the one on the expenses and management of the services of the Presidency of the French Republic in which Macron’s spouses are “weighed”. Numerous expenses were already weighing on the French: already grappling with inflation and the high cost of living, fuel prices at the pump that remained high and the weight of energy bills with progressive increases expected from August and with new increases from February 2024, will now be able to claim expenses due to the choices of the first lady.

After the controversy of 2020, due to expenses related to the flowers and gardens of the Palace refurbished by her indication, last year it was travel that weighed on Brigitte Trogneux’s budget. According to Il Giornale, in fact, Mrs Macron has made “14 official trips as first lady, half of them abroad, accompanying the president. But there are also 16 stops in France just for Brigitte, an increase compared to 2019, year of comparison with the Covid biennium”.

But that’s not enough. “In addition to travel ‘by train or car’, Brigitte then allocated a large part of the expenses to the remuneration of employees: two personal assistants; an assistant for the assistants and another assistant shared with Macron’s memory advisor. While in the country a large part of the population struggles to survive, Emmanuel Macron’s wife does nothing to not irritate the French and, in fact, allows herself an extreme luxury.
