A wife who hates football and does everything to prevent her husband from watching the much-loved games every weekend, going beyond the limit to say the least. A story starring Joanna Healey, a 59-year-old English housewife from England who is fed up with her repeated disturbing calls at Premier League games and does not expect to receive a harassment complaint from her husband Steve.
As British media reported, it all started last October when the 60-year-old man, who is a huge football fan, was at the home of several of his friends, John and Debbie Ashworth, to watch the match between Chelsea and Manchester United. Given the lack of appreciation for the sport, Joanna had decided to stay home, but not with her arms crossed. The woman then began to call her husband and ask him when he would be back or when he would bring his dog to accompany him. Steve initially didn’t mind his wife’s many missed calls, but was annoyed by her insistence. Unable to communicate with her husband, Joanna began phone-bombing the couple, forcing them to disconnect the phone to watch the match in peace. In the tenth attempt, the woman who received a response hurled insults at them, even describing them as “pedophiles” and labeling her as a “slut”.
After this behavior, Steve, along with his friends, decided to file a complaint against his wife for harassment and crimes she took. Authorities discovered the woman had alcohol problems and had recently been kicked out of a martial arts gym run by several friends John and Debbie Ashworth, where she worked and her husband had split. In the days before the game, Joanna flooded Debbie with calls and texts (59 in two hours), admitting to drinking to police the evening of the fierce argument.
In court, the woman justified herself by saying she was “fearing for her little dog”, a version that did not convince the judges who chose to be paid 12 months of social service imprisonment and a £80 fine. The 59-year-old actor will have to attend several days of rehabilitation along with his probation service.
