In a letter to the Orthodox metropolis of Rhodes, the Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople, Bartholomew, assured prayers for all the victims and for a speedy control of the fires, according to the Orthodox Times portal. “My prayers and thoughts are always with the victims,” ​​he said.

Recall that the fire brigade fought the flames in a total of 64 regions of Greece for a week. The fire risk remains very high. This includes the Athens region, the Peloponnese peninsula and many islands in the Aegean Sea.

Commenting on the situation in Rhodes, the deputy head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Paweł Jabłoński, assured that Polish citizens are not in danger, and the evacuation began on Saturday.

“The situation is serious and dynamic. Apart from the inconvenience, nothing threatens the Poles.
